A car smashed into a power pole and brought down live power lines near Huntly this morning.

The Huntly Volunteer Fire Brigade responded to the emergency call from Hetherington Rd, west of the township, just after 7am, fire service communications shift manager Jaron Phillips said.

The power board has been notified and will be in attendance, Mr Phillips said.

St John treated one person at the scene for minor injuries.
