Two males have been charged after a woman was shot in the leg and chest at a Te Aroha house on Saturday afternoon.
The 19-year-old was shot once but suffered injuries to her right leg and to her chest, Detective Senior Sergeant Graham Pitkethley said.
The woman was treated at the scene by ambulance and taken to Waikato Hospital in a critical condition and is now listed as stable.
A 16-year old has been charged with wounding with reckless disregard and unlawful possession of ammunition and man, 21, has been charged with unlawful possession of a pistol.
Both will appear in the Hamilton District Court on Monday.
