Woman critical after Te Aroha shooting

 A 19-year-old woman is fighting for her life after she was shot in the leg and chest in Te Aroha.

Area Investigations Manager for Eastern Waikato, Detective Senior Sergeant Graham Pitkethley, said emergency services were called to a Russell Ave address shortly before 1pm Saturday.

"A 19-year-old woman was treated by ambulance staff and taken to Waikato Hospital with injuries to her right leg and chest suffered from what is believed to be a single gunshot. She is currently in Waikato Hospital in acritical but stable condition.

"Police are working to establish the circumstances of just what has happened and are currently speaking to a number of people from the address. We are not seeking anyone else in relation to the incident."
