THE ACCUSED: Shawn Michael Hawkins, centre, outside the Hamilton District Court.

A Hamilton teen accused of shooting two people, including one in the buttocks, outside a Hamilton Pizza Hut has been further remanded on bail.

Shawn Michael Hawkins, 18, made a brief appearance in the Hamilton District Court this morning, supported by a couple, believed to be his parents.

Hawkins, who lives on Grey St diagonally opposite the Claudeland's Pizza Hut, faces two charges of careless use of a firearm causing death or injury and one charge of possessing cannabis.

Hawkins is alleged to have shot the two men with an air rifle outside the Pizza Hut on December 24 and on Christmas Day.

In the first incident, a 31-year-old Hamilton man was shot once in the lower back outside the restaurant about 7pm, police said.

A day later, a man was shot in the buttocks as he was talking to a friend outside the same restaurant at about 7.45pm.

Hawkins' lawyer James Buckle said he needed more time before a plea could be confirmed as he was yet to receive full disclosure.

Hawkins was further remanded on bail by a registrar to reappear on February 17.

His bail conditions include that he not to possess or use any firearms, including an air rifle.
