Police are seeking the public's help in finding three men who held up a Hamilton dairy on Sunday.

The trio, including one man armed with a knife, entered the Knighton Rd Dairy in Hillcrest about 7pm, Detective Nick O'Brien said.

''The trio detained the male and female shop assistants before fleeing with cash and a large quantity of cigarettes."

'They fled through Greensboro Park, which is behind the store.

Police are keen to speak with a potential witness who was seen outside the dairy at the time of the robbery. He was described as an Asian male about 20 years old with short black hair and wearing a white t-shirt, black shorts and white sneakers. He was also very wet from heavy rain.

''If you think this person may have been you if you know who it was, police want to hear from you,'' Mr O'Brien said.
