A 37-year-old man has ended up in Tauranga Hospital after a fight, with injuries police say were caused by a chainsaw.
Two men clashed at a property near Te Puke, east of Tauranga, this morning, with one suffering back injuries.
Police said he and another man known to him got into an argument at a rural property south of Te Puke.
They received a call reporting a serious assault from an address near Rangiruru Road about 10.30am, police said.
During the argument one of the men, aged 37, has received an injury to his back caused by a chainsaw, police said.
“The injury was not believed to be life-threatening and the man was being treated at Tauranga Hospital.
Police were investigating how the incident happened and it was too early to say how the injury occurred.
SunLive reported there were a number of people at the property at the time and detectives spoke to witnesses.
A Tauranga Hospital spokesperson said the 37-year-old man was in a stable condition in hospital.
