Fire crews spent four hours on the Kaimai Ranges this morning after a truck and trailer went up in flames.

Fire northern communications shift manager Jaron Phillips said they were called to the fire on SH29 just before 3am.

"It was well involved when the first crews arrived so additional crews were called for, including a water tanker."

The road was narrowed to one lane while a tow truck and crane worked on removing the truck.

No one was injured in the fire, however ambulance attended the scene.
