One person has been hospitalised after a collision on a greasy Hamilton road this morning.
Police have urged motorists to take care after ''treacherous'' road surface conditions contributed to a smash near the intersection of Hukanui Rd and Grey Lynne Ave in Queenwood about 5.30am.
St John Ambulance northern communication centre spokesperson Nicky Green said paramedics treated two people at the scene and one patient was transported to Waikato Hospital with serious injuries.
A section of Hukanui Rd near the intersection with Grey Lynne Ave was closed.
Shift manager senior sergeant Andy Bubear said two road workers heading north in a sedan took a corner too fast, crossed the centre line and collided with a southbound vehicle.
''The people in the southbound car were shaken but unhurt, but the front seat passenger in the badly damaged northbound sedan was knocked unconscious and had to be cut out of the wreckage by fire fighters.''
Mr Bubear said light rain often made road surface conditions treacherous and motorists should give themselves time to get to their destination.
