Cordon lifted after bomb scare in Taupo
Police evacuated the Taupo District Court, the police station and the museum following a bomb threat this morning.
All cordons around Tongariro Street in Taupo have now been lifted following a search of the court building.
Police spokeswoman Kim Perks said the threatening call was taken at the court house but police were notified about 10.20am.
She would not discuss the content of the phone call. ''Suffice to say a bomb threat [has been made] to the court,'' Ms Perks said.
''We contact the bomb squad and get advice around cordoning. They've cordoned streets and evacuated what we thought needed to be evacuated at this stage and we're making enquiries in relation to the call and the caller.''
Taupo Police diverted all calls to Tokoroa Police as the situation unfolds.
