Dangling cab a close call for truck driver
Driver lucky after truck hits bridge
A truck driver has been taken to hospital in a moderate condition after his vehicle struck a bridge in South Waikato.
Norm Ngatai from St John northern communications said the vehicle struck the bridge near the Arapuni Dam, west of Putaruru this morning.
The truck was left with part of the cab and the left front wheel dangling off the bridge.
The driver was taken to Tokoroa Hospital. Sergeant Ashley Gore of police northern communications said it was possible a possible medical condition had caused the driver to lose control of the truck.
