Trio to fight charge of giving boy booze
Three people charged with supplying a 9-year-old boy with alcohol are planning to fight the charge.
The trio formalised their not guilty pleas in the Hamilton District Court yesterday.
Neither Michael Harry King nor Lucy Teari Winnie Snowdon had to appear in court and the pair were further remanded for a one-day hearing on June 12.
The third accused, Kali Tiloi, did make an appearance, and was remanded in custody by Judge David Ruth until appearing on other matters in April.
The charges arise after a 9-year-old boy was recorded by a video camera, drunk and slumped against a wall at the Fairfield skate park on January 7.
The boy had earlier drunk eight cans of 7 per cent Cody's ready-to-drink bourbon and cola and two shots of alcohol.
By the time police arrived at the park, the boy had used a scooter to travel home, where police spoke with his mother.
