I'm really at a loss about what to say about an article I read in the Waikato Times this morning (July 11).
The councillors or their staff have decided to remove many rubbish bins in the parks and other recreational areas around Hamilton. This will apparently save upwards of $66,000.
Only last week, they decided to spend $90,000 for some signs to point to the toilets.
This savings action would be commendable if it was sensible, but it isn't.
We ratepayers must applaud efforts made to curb the never-ending spending by the current councillors, but making the city look like a rubbish dump is not the way to go.
These elected officers need to be removed before they completely ruin our city.
Please remember this when it comes time to vote.
