I respond to the letter from Malcolm Hinton published on February 19.
I agree wholeheartedly that a fountain would be a great gift for the city of Hamilton from Gallagher Industries.
When I was growing up Hamilton was named "Fountain City" - what happened?
It is always such a pleasure to drive toward the Founders Theatre roundabout and see the fountain working. The addition of the fountain to Garden Pl is also great. I agree with Malcolm - fountains never date. Look to Europe - fountains are major attractions.
Come on Hamilton city (and this goes to the mayor and councillors) - forget Hamilton being the "Art Capital" and bring back what we thought we were: "Fountain City".
Congratulations also to Gallagher Industries. We look forward to the future.
