Imagine the outcry if the Coastal Walkway in New Plymouth, the waterfront in Wellington, the walkway around the Mount or the Viaduct in Auckland had orange plastic barrier tape around a portion of them for years!
Why is it okay for the Hamilton City Council to leave our river walk, which is arguably our city's best asset, blocked off for years?
I'm no engineer but there are boardwalks and bridges over other parts of the river walk which are at risk of corrosion, so it is hard to understand that the parts of the walkway which are adjacent to the CBD and our award winning Fairfield Bridge aren't worth fixing.
Come on, Hamilton City Council, stop playing politics and fix our walkway!
