The Home Cook Challenge
Relevant offers
The ultimate challenge to find Waikato's best home cook.
How the competition works
In less than 200 words potential contestants let us know why they should be chosen to compete for the title of Waikato’s Best Home Cook. The selected semi finalists are asked to prepare their favourite dish at the Wintec Cookery School in front of industry judges, with the three best home cooks progressing to the finals.
Finalists are given a box of mystery ingredients and asked to design an original dish incoroprating the mystery ingredients. They will then prepare their creation in front of a live audience and judges in the Kitchen Things Cooking Theatre at the Waikato Times Food, Wine & Jazz Festival.
2011 Home Cook Challenge Winner
Congratulations to Campbell Noble who edged out his rivals in a closely contested cook-off in the Kitchen Things Cooking Theatre at the 2011 Waikato Times Food, Wine & Jazz Festival.
Our three finalists (Campbell Noble, Lyn Kamkwa and Kristina McQueen) competed for the title of Waikato’s Best Home Cook in a fun filled ‘Ready Steady Cook’ style cook off at the Waikato Times Food, Wine & Jazz Festival on the 26th February.
The three finalists were given four Waikato ingredients – blueberries, cream cheese, raw honey and dried oyster mushrooms - of which they were to use a minimum of three in a dish they prepared in front of a live audience.
