Waikato University’s annual Great Race will be held this Sunday, and the international crews will be welcomed with a powhiri this Thursday.
The Great Race is an annual Waikato River rowing race between Waikato University and two international crews.
It is set on a gruelling 3.85km upstream course.This year’s crews are from Australia’s Queensland and Sydney universities.
The Waikato University men’s eight will look to retain the coveted Harry Mahon Trophy while the women’s eight crews will row to keep the Bryan Gould Cup.
The powhiri will be held from 10.30am at Te Kohinga Marama marae on the University campus. Everyone is welcome.
