WaiBop United broke their losing streak in Mount Maunganui yesterday, thanks chiefly to local hero Jack McNab.

The hosts scored a 3-1 victory over Wanderers SC in their ASB Premiership encounter at Links Ave, with McNab netting twice.

McNab, who plays for Tauranga City United in the winter, volleyed WaiBop ahead on the stroke of halftime and gave them a two-goal buffer in the second spell when he nodded in a near-post corner.

Adam Mitchell pulled a goal back for the visitors but substitute Masaki Nomoto ensured WaiBop would gain all three points after five defeats on the trot with a sublime free-kick with 10 minutes to play.

The result kept WaiBop in sixth spot in the eight-team competition with 10 points from 11 matches.
