There was a distinct Racing Hall of Fame flavour about last week's Pic from the Past.
Most of the entries correctly named the pair as John Wheeler and Peter Mitchell, though there were a few who couldn't place the great Bonecrusher's owner.
Both Wheeler and Bonecrusher were inducted into the Racing Hall of Fame earlier this month, though Mitchell was unable to make the ceremony as he was unwell.
Last week's photo was taken in the birdcage at Moonee Valley in October 1988, just before Bonecrusher clashed with the Wheeler-trained [Our] Poetic Prince in the Cox Plate.
The race was a memorable one for the Kiwis with Poetic Prince defeating another new Hall of Famer Horlicks with Bonecrusher finishing third.
From this week's entries Paulene Coleman's name was drawn and she wins the month subscription to the nzratings.com website, where she can access expert form analysis and betting advice from Cambridge racing identities Bruce Sherwin and Tony Pike. A month's subscription is valued at $40.
With Auckland Cup week hogging the recent headlines and the revelations about Gerry Harvey's acquisition of Karaka's Westbury Stud, this week's photo identity has had a lot on his plate.
