A small plane has crashed into New York's Mohawk River killing at least two people.
Federal Aviation Administration spokesman Jim Peters said the Piper Cherokee went down near Scotia shortly after taking off from Mohawk Valley Airport. Scotia is about 32km northwest of Albany.
The condition of a third person who was onboard the plane isn't known. Peters says the single-engine plane sank in about 30 feet of water, and divers are searching to see whether anyone else was aboard.
The plane is registered to Kolath Airlines LLC of Delaware. A woman who identified herself as Kolath's registered agent said she didn't know about the crash and had been unable to contact anyone with the company.
