Two of 18 gang members who escaped from a Honduran prison last week are dead and a third has been captured.
Police chief Francis Rivera says one fugitive was found strangled Saturday in a field of sugar cane.
Another fugitive died in a shootout with police Friday that also left an officer dead. Police captured a third inmate Sunday.
The inmates, members of the Mara gang, escaped Wednesday through a tunnel leading to a house outside the prison in the northern city of San Pedro Sula.
Among those still at large are Elmer Orellana and Alexander Reyes, who are charged in the kidnap-killing of Edwin Palacios.
Palacios was the brother of Wilson Palacios, midfielder for the English football Premier League club Tottenham Hotspurs.
