Our favourite Georges
The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge have decided to name their new son George Alexander Louis - a fitting name for a little Prince and future King.
A good, strong, British name - it has befallen many great things in life. So in celebration, we've put together our top 10 things named George.
In no particular order:
Georgie Pie - Possibly still reigning as New Zealand's favourite George, nothing beats a good pie - even if the price has increased.
Boy George - It's like looking at a Bird of Paradise crossed with a clown, and a member of the Misfits (as in Jem and the Holograms Misfits) - that's if we're referring to Karma Chameleon days. Present day Boy George now looks like a larger, balder version of Tom Hanks. Still, can't quite tear your eyes away though.
George Clooney - The only gorgeous George. Can't quite tear your eyes away from this one either can you? Me neither.
George St cafe district in Palmerston North - People have a lot to say about Palmerston North but the coffee on George St can give many in the capital a run for their money. As a former northern Palmerstonian I've got no qualms about repping the cafe scene there.
George Costanza - "Who am I kidding, this kid will be king of the jerk store" - a probable reaction from George Costanza to the naming of the royal baby.
George of the Jungle - Sing the song. Go on, sing it. It's already stuck in your head isn't it? You're welcome.
George Best - The Northern Irish professional footballer is an icon and one of the greatest players to ever grace the game. One of the best Georges there is, as his name would imply.
Curious George - A cheeky monkey with a penchant for getting into trouble - sounds like another Prince we know. If the newest royal George takes after his uncle Harry, he could have more in common with this beloved children's character than his parents would care to enjoy.
George Harrison - Often described as the nicest Beatle - George Harrison was the lead guitarist of the great British rock band and penned some of their greatest hits, including Here comes the Sun and Something.
HRH Prince George of Cambridge - Undoubtedly the world's favourite George at the moment. The love affair with this little Prince has only just begun, and if the popularity of his parents are anything to go by, Prince George will be loved for years to come.
Any other favourites? Post them below.
