The White House says US President Barack Obama is in excellent health and will stay that way for the rest of his time in office.

The White House has released a summary from Obama's doctor following the president's physical exam last month.

The report said Obama continued to make healthy lifestyle choices. He eats a healthy diet, exercises daily and remains tobacco-free.

Obama is a former smoker. He also drinks alcohol occasionally and in moderation.

It was the first report on Obama's health that the White House has released in nearly three years.
