First he was busted by the California cops, now Jeremy Meeks is facing even more heat - from the ladies.

Repeat offender Meeks has become an internet sensation thanks to his ridiculously photogenic mugshot being posted on the Stockton Police Department's Facebook page.

The photo has notched up more than 27,000 likes and 7,000 comments, making him Facebook's most wanted criminal.

"What is he guilty of?! First Degree Sexiness?!'" Facebook user Ashley Pruitt Carden posted.

Erica Colon wrote: "He is one fine daddy! Dem eyes are mm mm gorgeous!"

"They can lock me up with him and throw away the key!!!! Lol..."

"This man can come and do home arrest at my house???? Daaammmn," offered Krystal Grace.

Not everyone was impressed though. "He's naughty in the wrong way!!" Jackie Johnson quipped.

"He maybe good looking but in the end he has done the wrong.. stay behind bars," Cheyanne Bradley said.

And Ana Campos commented: "He could have done a lot more with his life. Sad. But hot."

Meeks was being held in San Joaquin County Jail on firearms offences. Bail was set at  US$1 million - though some commenters were threatening to start a crowdfunding campaign to free him.

His relationship status was unknown.
