A serial drink driver was pranked by friends trying to stop him from getting behind the wheel drunk again.

The man, who had been convicted for drink driving five times before, was tricked into thinking he had been in a coma for 10 years after passing out drunk in his car. 

American comedian Tom Mabe set up a fake hospital and had a fake nurse and doctor talk the friend through the accident.

"Some time ago you were out drinking and you were in an accident," he said to the friend.

"This accident took place in 2013. It is now 2023. You have been in a coma for the past ten years."

The prank even involved a fake news bulletin set in 2023.
