An American woman was shocked to discover she had been sharing her couch with a snake for two months.
Michigan woman Holly Wright and her boyfriend picked up the free couch off the side of the street, never suspecting it was home to a 1.2 metre-long boa constrictor.
The uninvited housemate came slithering out after two months of living beneath the cushions.
"It's been living in the couch for like two months in my bedroom and I had no idea and it looks pretty big," Wright said in a video of the discovery.
"Sometimes my dog would sit up there, I would drink a cup of coffee, check emails - I read a few novels on this couch," she told ABC13.
The snake was lethargic, and probably starving, Wright said.
It died before they could take it to an animal expert.
"It's been really sad actually realising that all this time that animal was probably suffering," she said.
She buried the dead snake under a tree, and put the couch back outside with a "do not pick up" sign.
