Indonesian police say they arrested two suspects in the alleged rape and murder of a Japanese woman in the tourist island of Bali.

Bali police chief Maj. Gen. Sutisna said Thursday that construction workers Mawardi, 31, and Abdurahman, 20, were detained at the popular Kuta beach.

The 41-year-old Hiromi Shimada – a Japanese woman who had been living in Bali for 10 years – was found dead last week in her rented home in Kuta with bound hands and multiple stab wounds.

Sutisna says the woman was robbed and that autopsy results suggest she was raped.
