Renowned Hindu spiritual leader Asaram Bapu and four others have survived a scary helicopter crash in north-west India.

The helicopter crashed during landing at a college in Godhra, Gujarat, yesterday, and all those on board got away with just minor injuries according to police.

"The chartered helicopter Asaram Bapu and his followers were travelling in developed a technical snag prior to landing at Godhra Science college and fell from a considerable height," police officials said.

Video footage shows the machine approaching the landing area but tipping on its nose sending debris flying and the machine ended up on its side, minus its tail and rotors.
