A Hong Kong billionaire is offering a NZ$78 million reward for a man who can entice his lesbian daughter into marriage.

Property magnate Cecil Chao Sze-tsung said he will pay HK$500m to a man who he approves of if they can woo 33-year-old Gigi Chao.

But the obstacles extend beyond the small problem that Gigi prefers women.

If reports are true, she is also already married, tying the knot in April with her girlfriend of seven years in a ceremony in France.

Chao insists that report is false, and he told the South China Morning Post he did not care whether the man who won his daughter's heart was rich or poor.

"The important thing is that he is generous and kind-hearted," Chao said.

"Gigi is a very good woman with both talents and looks. She is devoted to her parents, is generous and does volunteer work."

The prize money was "an inducement to attract someone who has the talent, but not the capital to start his own business".

Gigi Chao is an architecture graduate. Her Facebook page said she was an executive director at her father's property firm Cheuk Nang.

She described her father's reward offer as, "quite entertaining".
