A Chinese dog laments the loss of a companion killed in a traffic accident, refusing to leave until dead dog is taken away. Gavino Garay reports.

Turns out dogs aren't just man's best friend.

A dog in China has made world headlines after it was spotted keeping guard after another dog was run over in the middle of a busy road.
 
The little white dog was killed in the middle of a street in Yinchuan, in north west China's Ningxia Hui Autonomous Region, the Daily Mail reported.
 
The loyal friend spent hours lying by the body even as temperatures plummted overnight to -13 degrees.
 
Passersby took pictures and videos of the scene, which quickly went viral on the internet.
 
Somebody placed a stool in front of the dogs to stop them from being hit by another car, a woman told Sky News.
 
Restaurant workers then removed the dead dog's body and buried it under a tree in a nearby park, the Daily Mail said.
 
The other dog followed the workers and stayed with them until its friend had been buried.
