Hundreds of sheep have been killed after a livestock carrier rolled over in the Australian state of Victoria.

The B-double was travelling west on the Princes Highway, Stoneyford, when it veered off the road on Friday morning.

The driver of the truck escaped injury but 500 sheep perished.

One lane of the Princes Highway was blocked to traffic for several hours as police rounded up the surviving sheep and cleared the scene.
