A man has been arrested after allegedly kidnapping his 13-month-old daughter and pregnant girlfriend and shooting her parents.
Keder Hamdache was taken into custody just before 10am, police said. The woman and child were both unharmed.
They said Hamdache had taken the pair to several locations while under police surveillance.
Police said they moved on the man when they felt it was safe.
A handgun believed to have been used in the shootings has not been found.
Earlier today, police appealed for the 27-year-old Hamdache to turn himself in after an abduction and shooting in Meadow Heights about 9.30pm yesterday. They also made a public appeal for information on his whereabouts.
Police allege that, after the shooting, Mr Hamdache forced his 22-year-old girlfriend, who is pregnant, and their daughter into the vehicle before driving away.
The alleged abduction followed a double shooting at a home in Woodburn Crescent in the northern suburb of Meadow Heights, police said.
Emergency services who arrived at the home found the woman's parents with bullet wounds. The 52-year-old man is believed to have been shot in the shoulder and his 49-year-old wife was shot in the hip.
Paramedics treated them at the scene for non life-threatening injuries, and they are recovering in hospital.
Mr Fontana said police were still trying to determine what kind of handgun was used.
A crime scene has been established in Woodburn Crescent and an investigation into the circumstances of the shooting and abduction is under way.
