A 16-year-old boy has been charged after allegedly jumping on the back of a female police officer and putting her male partner in a headlock.
The officers were called to a disturbance at a park in Toowoomba at about 8.20pm (local time) on Sunday and were confronted by a group of aggressive youths.
A teen jumped on the back of the 35-year-old female senior constable, pushing her head and shoulders to the ground, police said.
It’s alleged he then threw a can at the back of a 43-year-old senior constable’s head, knocking him to the ground.
When the officer tried to get up, he was put in a headlock and wrestled to the ground, police said.
More officers arrived at the scene and the group fled.
Both officers were treated for bruises.
The boy has been charged with seriously assaulting police and will be dealt with under the provisions of the Youth Justices Act.
