A search is under way after for a man after a boat capsized in a lake in the NSW Snowy Mountains overnight.

Emergency services were called to Anglers Reach, near Jindabyne, just before 1am (AEDT) on Thursday following reports a 57-year-old man had gone overboard in Lake Eucumbene.

Police were leading the rescue operation, an ambulance spokeswoman told AAP.

A police helicopter and rescue boat are continuing to search for the missing man, according to ABC reports.
