Police raid Stiletto brothel
The raid on a Sydney brothel owned by controversial racing identity Eddie Hayson is in relation to a drug and money laundering syndicate.
At least a dozen state and federal detectives attached to Operation Polaris raided the inner-Sydney brothel Stiletto.
The detectives, accompanied by the dog squad and public order and riot squad, descended on the Camperdown premises after 11am (1pm NZ time) on Wednesday.
It is understood Hayson has since arrived at Stiletto to speak with detectives.
Operation Polaris is a joint NSW Police and Australian Federal Police operation targeting organised crime on the Sydney waterfront.
‘‘The operation conducted is in relation to a drug and money laundering syndicate,’’ a NSW Police spokeswoman said.
Detectives continue to come and go from the brothel, and at least one unsuspecting but determined customer was turned away during the lunch hour.
A sniffer dog has been removed from the building, and detectives are expected soon to take any evidence from the premises that may assist their investigation.
