An Australian Channel Ten news helicopter has crash landed in Baskerville, north-east of Perth.

The helicopter came down and made a "hard landing" just before 11am (local time) near Weir Road.

The cameraman and pilot who were inside left the chopper only suffered minor injuries.

Michael Bennett from Ten News said it was a "lucky escape" for pilot, Paul, and cameraman, Adam, and praised the pilot, who struggled to control and land the helicopter.

Cameraman Adam Delmarsh had been taken to hospital after suffering back pain, Bennett said.

A Channel Nine reporter who witnessed the crash told 6PR that as the helicopter rolled onto its side the cameraman tore off his harness and got clear of the chopper.

The crew were capturing footage of a truck rollover at the time. The truck driver was flown to Royal Perth Hospital. 

St John Ambulance and police are attending the scene and the east side of Weir Road near Abraham Close is closed.
