A man has been found guilty of murdering a New Zealander on Australia's Gold Coast.

A jury today found Bevan Forsythe, also a New Zealander,  guilty of shooting Brent Dumper at his daughter's housewarming party on May 30, 2010,  the Sunshine Coast Daily reported.

Dumper, who was 46-years-old at the time, was shot point blank at the party around 4.45am, following an argument.

His daughter, Jessie Anderson, had moved in with her partner, and Forsythe lived next door, the Sunshine Coast Daily said.

Forsythe, the second cousin of Anderson's partner, came to the party and became "increasingly aggressive" throughout the night, challenging Dumper to several fights.

He then went home and returned to the party with a shotgun, and did not say anything before shooting Dumper.

Forsythe, who went on trial after pleading not guilty to the murder, was told his verdict in the Supreme Court of Brisbane this afternoon.

He was also found guilty of the attempted murder of another man, who had managed to push the shotgun away.

Dumper had moved to the Gold Coast to work as a real estate agent, and before that he was an antiques dealer in Waiuku, south of Auckland.
