A New Zealander has been arrested in Sydney after posting photos of himself holding a baby boy and a gun on Facebook.

Kyle Pehi, 24, originally from New Zealand, is due to appear in a Sydney court today, charged with possessing an unauthorised prohibited firearm and possessing ammunition without holding a license, the Daily Telegraph reported

Pehi had reportedly been posting photographs of himself and a four-month-old boy as he played with a German-made Walther PPK pistol. In one image, since removed from Facebook, the baby is holding the handle of the gun.

Police told NZN last week it was the first time this type of gun had been found in Australia.

The photos shows both Pehi and the baby wearing caps emblazoned with “New Zealand”.
