A crowd watching the demolition of a building in Paris was left with a stale taste as a wind change blew a large dust cloud at them.

The 14-storey tower block was on the outskirts of Paris in the commune of Vitry-sur-Seine, and was demolished by explosives on Wednesday (local time).

As the seconds-long demolition began, the wind changed sending a massive dust cloud toward onlookers.

Many fled while others clutched makeshift scarves over their faces.

Incongruously, the tranquil strains of baroque classic Pachelbel's Canon played in the background.
