Hundreds of residents of a Russian apartment block have come out unscathed after a crane fell and smashed into the building.

More than 300 people, including 37 children, lived in the Kirov apartment block, reported RTE News.

An Emergencies Ministry official said the crane may have been poorly secured.

The construction boom in Russia has lead to builders ignoring safety rules, said RTE News.
