I am glad I live in a "bubble" and WTF is a pic of Madonna doing in there... many sad pics shows you the mind state for the media cartels in he world the poor saps.

Amen Jerry. There are some amazing photos in this collection - if you don't like what's going on in the world, get out there and do something about it!

Man, all everyone can do is complain about the "sad" photos, how pathetic, wake up, this is what the rest of the world is going through, stop being ungrateful bastards and apreciate what you have, as you can all quite well see not everyone in the world has a comfortable 1st world new zealand home. Stop appearing so ignorant and see past the end of your own nose. These photos represent very well, what this world has been like for the last decade, crap! War, terrorism, natural disasters, the last decade has quite honestly been horrible for some countries, imagine living through the last decade in afganistan or iraq for example, you people have no bloody idea.

9/11? bali bombing? east timor? G.F.C.? Very selective indeed.

I think the photos show raw honest snapshots of many of the different happenings around the world. I saw maybe 5 of "war/middle east/soldiery stuff". The middle east is a large are containing hugely significant conflicts. A lot of people writing here sound like apathetic racists.

For those that are moaning about how depressing the photos are I think the point is to wake us up as to how the world really is. Looking at these photos I feel guilty to live in a free society where I can go about my day without fear. I don't really want to see photos of Obama on his election win or Bush making an idiot of himself when there are atrocities going on in the world still.

Death, gloom, misery, war, violence.

Yes, exactly how I'll remember the decade.

Makes NZ look pretty peaceful and I hope kiwis appreciate that fact. Money, a big house, a fancy new car & TV are just not important. Infact they are blatantly rude when you see what those in the rest of the world (not western) are dealing with on a day to day basis. Sure we have our issues here also BUT it's not life or death is it, atleast not yet. We live in a most fortunate country yet we still cant put our petty history behind us, grow up and move on.

A convincing and saddly confirming list of pictures; Reuters and most media are truley focussed on presenting the worst of our world has to offer. No one person can change any of this, and most will never even attempt to try.
