The fire began inside a children’s facility and spread through the hotel buildings.

The fire has destroyed a major portion of the establishment including a lounge area, kids park, two restaurants, and other facilities.

The Fiji military regime issued a statement last night saying nobody had been injured in the fire.

It said all the guests and staff at the Naviti Resort were evacuated to safety and the majority of them have been relocated to Naviti ‘s nearby sister property, the Warwick Fiji Resort.

The statement quoted the Naviti director,  Tammie Tam, who said no one was hurt and “all procedures were meticulously followed."

The statement said people who want to contact friends or family who have been staying at the Naviti Resort are advised to call  +679 6530555.

Damage is expected to be in hundreds of thousands of dollars.
