Person trapped after south Auckland crash between truck and car
Paramedics and firefighters worked to free a driver after a truck and a car collided in Māngere, south Auckland.
The driver, believed to be a woman, was freed from the red vehicle with the jaws of life and taken to hospital.
The roof of the car was removed by firefighters. The front end of the vehicle had been crushed.
The truck had come to a stop less than 100 metres along the road, and it had extensive damage to the front driver's side.
Debris was left covering a section of Massey Rd near the intersection with Friesian Drive.
Fire crews were cleaning up the scene.
An ambulance and two paramedic vehicles were on scene along with three fire trucks and a support vehicle.
A police cordon was in place.
A large group of onlookers from nearby houses had come out to watch the rescue.
Police were speaking to people at the scene.
