Four injured, one seriously, after car goes down bank in Auckland's Waitakere Ranges

The crash happened near the Arataki Visitor Centre in West Auckland's Waitakere Ranges.

Three people have been taken to hospital, one in a serious condition, after a crash left a car down a bank in Auckland on Monday morning. 

Emergency services were called to the crash on Scenic Drive in Titirangi, near Arataki Visitor Centre in West Auckland's Waitakere Ranges, around 2.45am. 

A Fire and Emergency NZ spokesman said three people were taken to North Shore Hospital, one with serious injuries and two in a moderate condition. 

A St John alert said a fourth person received moderate injuries.

Passengers raised the alarm by using a personal locator beacon, as there was no cellphone coverage, a police spokeswoman said. 

Scenic Dr was closed between West Coast Rd and Shaw Rd, but had reopened as of 6.30am. 

The police Serious Crash Unit was investigating.
