Saturday roadworks for Haywards Interchange, weather allowing
Motorists using State Highway 58 on Saturday are advised to allow extra time for their travel.
The NZ Transport Agency said work on the higway would mean a short delay when the road connected with the interchange.
"Crews will be laying a new road surface this Saturday on SH58 where it joins the new Haywards Interchange,"
"We don't expect the delays will be any more than a couple of minutes," NZTA spokesman Andrew Knackstedt said.
* Final Haywards work unlikely to be completed until late October
* $43 million Haywards interchange in the Hutt Valley to open
This work is part of the tie-in works to connect the new Interchange to the existing road on SH58.
"Cyclists travelling up SH58 will need to take extra care travelling through the new road layout."
The $43 million interchange at the intersection of SH2 and SH58 is expected to be completed by the end of October.
The work is weather dependent. "If wet weather strikes we will reschedule the work," Knackstedt said.
In further work, resurfacing the southbound on and off ramps will take place overnight from 10pm, on Tuesday, October 17.
The ramps will be closed to traffic and detours will be in place.
The main through lanes on SH 2 at Haywards are also to be resurfaced from October 16. This will take a fortnight and will require lane closures.
