Police end search of Oriental Bay in Wellington after concern raised for swimmer
Police have ended their search off Oriental Bay after it was reported a swimmer was in trouble in the water on Tuesday morning.
A police boat and dive squad assisted in the search, which was called off in the afternoon.
Police had asked members of the public if they'd seen a woman wearing a bikini in the water.
"Officers have spoken to a number of people in the area at the time, and the Police Dive Squad conducted a search, and no person or item of note has been located," a spokeswoman said.
Police would like to talk to any swimmer who may have held onto a buoy out from Oriental Bay around 10am on Tuesday.
Wellington Police Maritime Unit asked anyone with information on to call 105.
