Boulcott St was blocked as fire crews worked to bring down cladding torn loose by high winds in downtown Wellington.

A fire engine was blocking Boulcott St diagonally outside the Spark building for about 30 minutes on Boulcott St as passersby were told to stay away during the operation in an upper level of the 12-storey building.

Fire fighters were working on a section of metal cladding, which was flapping in the high winds.
