New list of proposed emojis has been unleashed
The Emoji Movie may be getting a critical drubbing, but it is not stopping those in charge of emoticons from launching their proposed 2018 range.
The Emoji subcommittee has put forward its list of new emoticons to be launched into the world in June 2018.
As well as Unicode Emoji's list, details have emerged of the rigorous procedure to get on it, via their "Form for Emoji Proposals".
Some of the guidelines for completion of the form include "don't justify the addition of emoji because they further a "cause", no matter how worthwhile".
Also included is reference to the reason a campaign to get a broccoli emoji approved was successful. The attached submission stated that "There are currently very few vegetable emojis, and this is one of the most iconic vegetables in the United States, if not the world."
Among those proffered up for discussion on the 67 Emoji-strong list include a frowning poop emoji, a grinning face with a cape, a lobster, a kangaroo and a raccoon.
The list will be culled down and its final candidates decided upon in a meeting by the Emoji subcommittee a little later this year.
There are already 2,666 Emojis in existence.
