Jason Gunn wants to bring Thingee back to TVNZ
Jason Gunn wants Thingee back on TV - and he's launched a campaign to make sure the Kiwi icon returns.
Gunn's posted a video to Instagram, announcing that his Son of A Gunn pal Thingee needs to come back to TVNZ.
"Here's my why, it's been 25 years since me old mate's been on our TV screens," Gunn says.
"Since then, well, look at TV; we're building homes, and we're cooking, and we're building other homes, and still cooking and strangers are getting married. It's awesome," he says before clearly pausing sarcastically.

"Seriously, how would we explain that to Thingee? How would we explain the whole world to Thingee now?" Gunn said.
But in proposing taking the idea to TVNZ, Gunn admits they may need more ammunition for those in charge.
"They'll probably say 'why, is that what people really want?' I need you to tell them it's what you want - even if it's not, just lie dammit," Gunn concludes.
In his Instagram post, Gunn has tagged in Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern as well, before launching his heartfelt plea.
"Okay here we go! I NEED YOU!!! THINGEE NEEDS YOU!! We gotta get this video out there and gain some serious momentum! So PLEASE...Follow me. Share this. Tag someone. Call someone. Hell...send someone a postcard! Let's BRING BACK THINGEE!!" he posted.
TVNZ seems to confirm that a return could be on the cards.
In a statement they said "Thingee is a Kiwi icon and a best mate to a whole generation of New Zealanders. We think Jason makes a good point, perhaps it's time for our friend to stage a come-back."
TVNZ has also been asked if Gunn's video was part of a campaign and if Thingee's return has already been secured. The cryptic response was "We don't have a show with Thingee to announce at the moment – but we'll follow the campaign with interest."
