The Walking Dead star Norman Reedus spotted in Wellington

The Walking Dead star Norman Reedus has been spotted in Wellington while in New Zealand filming his motorcycle travel show, Ride

The American actor, known for playing the crossbow-wielding Daryl Dixon in the hit zombie series, wore sunglasses, a cap and a backpack as he posed for photos with fans around the capital on Wednesday.

Body painter Jenni Reika was busking on the Wellington waterfront in full zombie makeup when the star approached her.

"He just popped up and was like, 'hey, this is cool, can I get a picture of you?' He was a lovely guy."

Wellington student Shanelle Cherry and her boyfriend were on Cuba St when they saw him inside the Area 51 clothing store.

"We didn't want to be super weird and go in the store so we just waited outside until he came out. I was like, 'hey', and he did his stance he does on The Walking Dead, pretending to hold his bow and arrow," she said.

"He was super nice. He stood and chatted for a bit — he was talking about how he had been in Auckland, and he said Wellington was a lot cooler than Auckland.

"I thought he meant the weather, but he was like, 'no, I really enjoy the vibes here'."

Meanwhile Tattoo Machine on Dixon St revealed the star had paid their studio a visit, getting a tattoo from artist Josh Coburn.

Reedus later showed off his new ink on Instagram, a skull with the word "Ride" beneath it on the side of his foot.

He also enjoyed a haunted house experience at Wellington's Fear Factory, which shared a video to Instagram of the actor screaming as he emerged from the attraction.

"You were a true gentleman and a pleasure to scare! Thank goodness you didn't have your crossbow," it captioned the post.

Reedus first revealed he was in New Zealand in late January, and is filming the fifth season of his travel show, Ride With Norman Reedus

The series follows Reedus and celebrity guests as they explore destinations by motorcycle and check out the local biker culture.

He was also sighted in Auckland earlier this month, and he was photographed at the Hamilton Night Market last week.

Another fan shared a photo to Instagram of Reedus at Hot Water Beach in the Coromandel, along with the actor Josh Brolin, who is thought to be his guest star for the New Zealand episodes.
