Maori thrash metal band Alien Weaponry makes NZ single charts
The Northland thrash metal band Alien Weaponry has its first single on the NZ charts.
Ru Ana Te Whenua is sitting at number 4 on the NZ Heatseeker singles chart - which highlights the fastest-rising titles outside the Top 20 Artist Single Chart.
It is also the first time a New Zealand metal song in Te Reo Maori has featured on the NZ single charts.
Alien Weaponry is made up of lead singer/guitarist Lewis de Jong, 15, drummer Henry de Jong, 17, (Ngāti Pikiao) and bass player Ethan Trembath, 15.

Their single Ru Ana Te Whenua (The Earth Trembles) was released on June 30.
The trailblazers released their debut single Urutaa last year after they made history when they won both the Smokefreerockquest and Smokefree Pacifica Beats competitions.
Alien Weaponry kicked off their Trembling Earth Tour across NZ tonight, commencing in Mt Maunganui.
